Make your dashboard beautiful with custom backgrounds.

Background Types

Preset Images

Curated high-quality images from Unsplash:

  1. Enter edit mode
  2. Click background settings
  3. Browse the “Presets” tab
  4. Click an image to apply

Categories include landscapes, nature, abstract, dark themes, and more.

Solid Colors

Clean, simple backgrounds:

  1. Open background settings
  2. Select “Solid Color”
  3. Pick from presets or use the color picker
  4. Supports any hex color code

Gradients

Smooth color transitions:

  1. Open background settings
  2. Select “Gradient”
  3. Choose start and end colors
  4. Select gradient direction

Popular gradients:

  • Dark blue → Purple (default acetab theme)
  • Black → Dark blue (subtle)
  • Sunset colors for warmth

Custom Images

Use your own photos:

  1. Open background settings
  2. Select “Custom Image”
  3. Either:
    • Upload from your computer
    • Paste an image URL
  4. Adjust positioning if needed

Tip: Use high-resolution images (1920x1080 or larger) for best results.

Per-Screen Backgrounds

Each screen can have its own background:

  • Work screen → Professional, muted colors
  • Personal screen → Your favorite photo
  • Focus screen → Dark, minimal distraction

Changes only affect the current screen.

Dark Mode Optimization

For comfortable viewing:

  • Use darker images or gradients
  • Avoid pure white backgrounds
  • Consider low-contrast images

Performance

  • Large images are automatically optimized
  • Use solid colors for fastest loading
  • Gradients render instantly

Readability

Ensure your widgets remain readable:

  • Dark backgrounds work best with acetab’s white text
  • Test with all your widgets visible
  • Consider adding a subtle overlay for busy images

Screensaver

acetab includes a screensaver mode that activates after inactivity:

  1. Go to Settings → Screensaver
  2. Enable screensaver
  3. Set the timeout (minutes)
  4. Choose screensaver style

Move your mouse or press any key to exit screensaver mode.
